How We Work
Rockbird Gardens can work with you in two ways:
Complete Design & Planting
We design and plan a new, custom garden space, help you locate the chosen plants, and install all elements using our licensed landscape professionals.
Hourly DIY Support
If you are the type of gardener who loves the challenge of doing the work yourself, this is the option for you! Robin will consult with you on an hourly basis, advising you and giving you a list of recommended plants and vendors to help with the project. She will be available to answer questions. Note that with this option we do not provide a photo-realistic design or overhead plan, and we can't guarantee the health of the plants if they are not planted by licensed professionals.
Complete Design Services -- How the Process Works
- After you contact us we'll ask you to fill out a questionnaire to help clarify your priorities and preferences for your custom garden space.
- We then meet to discuss the look that you want, your needs and priorities, your budget and the maintenance level you can live with. It's very helpful to the process if you have photos of gardens in your neighborhood or pictures from magazines that appeal to you. This initial, one-hour consultation is free.
- Once we are on the same page with your goals and are both comfortable with the idea of working together, we send you a formal design proposal with detailed notes and ideas from the initial meeting.
- If this looks good, using the photos of your space, we create a "photo-realistic" first draft of a garden plan including plants that fit your tastes, maintenance schedule, and available space.
- With this draft in hand we get a licensed landscape professional to give a rough estimate of the work, timeline and cost involved in the physical portion of the project. They are the professionals in irrigation, drainage and hardscape.
- After preliminary design is agreed upon, we provide a detailed list of the plants needed (with cost estimate), and the work required for the landscape professional to give you a bid. Note that plans can usually be spread out over time and completed in stages in order to fit your budget.
When the plan is signed, the fun begins!
